Freedom through technology? - How the future will be formed by developers

An opinion-based article by Nils Giebing

Individual Freedom

Imagine the following situation:

You are living 100 years from now and the world has changed to the 'perfect' world to you. The world may be work completely how you would like it. But do you think that this will be possible for every one of us? - Clearly not.

No system is made for every human being nor perfect!

But imagine a world where the people can choose how to live by their own. But without forcing every one else to fit into one particular system. How will that be possible? Is this even possible?

Let's talk about that in our next section!

What are the technical possibilities?

As we now know that a world suitable for everyone won't be possible because everyone's different, we need to think about other solutions.

Technology suits us with the opportunity to create 'virtual worlds', DeFi applications, our own banks, Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) and so much more.

As you might have noticed is that the opportunities I've mentioned have to do with something called 'Blockchain'.

Blockchain is the foundation of individual freedom, which can clearly not be achieved in the 'real' world. With blockchain, groups of people with the same interests can create their own voting-based communities. People can share their opinions without a third party censoring or blocking it. One can be his own bank without paying banks a monthly fee just for owning your money, giving them more cash or to only have a daily limited amount of cash payout - and those are just some very few examples.

The following video by Chris Miess at TEDxInnsbruck gives you an introduction into the thoughts of Freedom through Blockchain.

How will developers form the future?

Developers - especially Web3 and Blockchain developers - will definitely form the future of social interaction with those technologies. They decide what will happen to them, which software will be released and published. The non-coders will just use those products made by developers.

Even the so called 'No-Code'-software won't be a big difference in my opinion because there are simply too many things you can't do with NoCode-software. This software may be suitable to make certain actions more accessible to non-developers, but won't replace the people creating software from the ground.

So, developers form the future of our everyday interactions with software and our 'Second Life', the digital one. They do that by innovating through participating in hackathons, trying to create software no one else has created before, creating startups with a strong vision and participating in communities with like-minded people.

This combination creates developers which will change the world!
